Below is a list of the official Monster invasion card games as were listed on the official monster invasion website and some of those printed in the monster invasion magazines.

Some users have also created their own variety of games, these can be found on a separate page here.

Website games

Stat Attack

Cards you will need: Doctor, Ally, Villain, and Monster.

  1. Shuffle your packs and deal five cards each.
  2. Pick a card from your hand and challenge your mate with your best stat.
  3. Your mate must choose a card from their hand to match or beat your stat.
  4. The person with the highest stat wins a point.
  5. Once all the cards have been played, the player with the most points wins!.

This game also appears with slightly different wording in magazine issue 1.

Grab A Gadget

Cards you will need: Doctor, Ally, Villain, Monster, and Gadget.

  1. Shuffle your packs and deal five random character cards and four random Gadget cards each.
  2. Player 1 picks a character and Gadget card to play. They should apply the Gadget card’s command to their card.
  3. Your mate must choose a card from their hand and play the same stat.
  4. The person with the highest stat wins that round! Player 2 starts the next round by adding a Gadget card to their character card.Use the same Gadget Trap card for three rounds, making sure you shuffle the whole deck after each. Whoever wins the most rounds wins the game!
  5. Play four rounds with Gadget cards and a final round with just character cards. Whoever wins the most rounds wins the game!

This game also appears with slightly different wording in magazine issue 3.

Adventure Time

Cards you will need: Doctor, Villain, and Adventure.

  1. One player should choose five random Doctor cards and the other player chooses five random Villain cards.
  2. Put down five shared Adventure cards, face-down between you. Remember which cards are yours.
  3. Both players choose a card to play and then turn over the top Adventure card.
  4. Play the stats that the Adventure card shows for each Doctor or Villain card. The highest rating wins.
  5. Play five rounds. Whoever wins the most rounds wins the game!

Magazine games

Part 1: Stat Attack

  3. Your mate must choose a card from their hand and play the same stat.
  4. The person with the highest stat wins that round!
  5. Play five rounds. Whoever wins the most rounds wins the game!

Example

Player 1 chooses Speed 800 on The displayed Eleventh Doctor card, player 2 plays Weeping Angels - Strength 750. Player 1 wins.

Part 2: Unit Challenge

Cards you will need: Doctor, Villain, Ally, and Monster.

  1. Shuffle your packs and deal 5 random cards each. Both pick a card from your hand.
  2. Both read out your UNIT rating. If your UNIT rating is one, play your first stat. If it is two, add your first two stats together and so on.
  3. Once you have both added your individual stats together, anounce your UNIT score.
  4. The player with the highest score wins that round. If you have the same UNIT rating you both choose another card from your pack.
  5. Play five rounds. Whoever wins the most rounds wins the game!

Example

Player 1 plays Jenny with a UNIT score of 600+450+800 = 1850 and player 2 plays Saturnyne with a UNIT score of 550+550 = 1100, Player 1 wins.

Part 3: Grab A Gadget

Cards you will need: Doctor, Ally, Villain, Monster, and Gadget.

  1. Shuffle your packs and deal five random character cards and four random Gadget cards each.
  2. Player 1 picks a character and Gadget card to play. They should apply the Gadget card’s command to their card.
  3. Your mate must choose a card from their hand and play the same stat.
  4. The person with the highest stat wins that round! Player 2 starts the next round by adding a Gadget card to their character card.
  5. Play four rounds with Gadget cards and a final round with just character cards. Whoever wins the most rounds wins the game!

Player 1 picks Jammy Dodger and Amy Pond, then plays Bravery 600+300 = 900. Player 2 plays Vespiform - Scariness 750. Player 1 wins.

Part 10: Adventure Max

Cards you will need: Doctor, Adventure, Villain

  1. One player should have 3 Doctor cards and the other should have 3 Villain cards. You should have a shared pile of 9 Adventure Cards.
  2. Both put down your top Doctor or Villain card.
  3. Play the ratings stated on the adventure card. The highest score wins. Do this again with the next two adventure cards.
  4. For each character card you should play 3 Adventure cards, seeing who wins each round.
  5. Play 3 rounds. If you win two or more then you are the winner.

Part 11: Unit Picks

Cards you will need: Doctor, Villain, Ally, Monster

  1. Both players should pick a random character card each.
  2. Take a look and see what Unit Rating it has and place it back in the pack. Then choose 5 Doctor, Villain, Ally or Monster cards. to play with. They must share the same Unit Rating.
  3. Play 5 rounds of Stat Attack. With your top cards you should play your Bravery or Scariness rating.
  4. With your next cards you should play Intelligence or Cunning and so on.
  5. Play 5 rounds. If you win 3 or more games, then you are the winner!

Part 15: Vortex Swap!

Cards you will need: Monster, Ally, Adventure
  1. Each Player Should have a pile of 10 Adventure, Monster and Ally cards - 30 cards in total.
  2. Every round, each player should pick a Monster, Ally and Adventure card. Using the stats Featured on the Adventure card, You should add the named Ally and Monster card stats together.
  3. If player one wants a Stronger hand they can say 'swap' and player will have to swap thier Ally card with player one. In the next round, player ywo can do the same thing, but swap a Monster card, Take it in turns each round.
  4. The player with the highest score wins the round and keeps their cards. The loser discards their cards into the Vortex.
  5. Play 10 rounds. Whoever wins the most rounds wins the game.

Part 16: Deadlock

Cards you will need: Ally, Adventure

  1. Both players should have 15 Ally Cards and a shared pile of 3 adventure cards, facedown.
  2. turn over the top Adventure card. The good rating on the left shows you which rating to play in that round. Both players should put down an Ally card.
  3. both players should then put down as many of their remaining Ally cards that they can, without their score going over 1,500. If you pass 1,500 points you become deadlocked and lose the round. Choose Your cards carefully so you can beat your opponent, but don't pass 1,500!

Part 25: Bravery Battle

Cards you will need: Doctor, Ally, Gadget, Adventure

  1. Both players should have 5 Doctor cards and 5 Ally cards. There should be  a shared pile of 10 Adventure cards and Gadget cards. The Gadget cards must feature bravery stats.
  2. Both players should turn over their top card and take a look at their Bravery stat and choose a card from the centre pile.
  3. If you choose an Adventure card, you can choose to play that card's good stat or keep the Braver stat, whichever is higher.
  4. If you choose a Gadget card, follow the instructions on the card. Whoever has the highest points wins the round.
  5. Play 5 rounds. If you win 3 or more games, then you are the winner!

Part 26: Big Bang

Cards you will need: Ally, Monster

  1. Both players should have five Ally cards or five Monster cards
  2. Both players should put down theire top card and read out all of their stats, starting from the top.
  3. Play each stat against each other and see who wins the most out of five. If you win three or more you win the round.
  4. If you draw player one should swap their card and play the round again.
  5. Play five rounds. If you win three or more games, you are the winner!

Part 47: Ultimate Card Connections

Cards you will need: Doctor, Villain, Ally, Gadget, Adventure.

  1. You should have 40 random Ultimate cards.
  2. Set a timer for two minutes and then look at your cards to try and create a run of cards that are connected.
  3. Cards can be connected by featuring the same character, being in the same episode, having the same UNIT rating or by the quote on the card being said by the same character. If character cards have two or more of the same ratings or if adventure cards feature the same stats, they can also be connected.
  4. Also, you can use your Who knowledge to connect cards. For example, Harold Saxon created the Toclafane, Martha fought them, etc.
  5. See how many cards you can connect in a line!

Part 52: Ultimate Flip-side

Cards you will need: Doctor, Villain, Ally, Monster

  1. Both players should have 16 ransom character cards. Place the four flip-side cards between you.
  2. Both name the stat you want to play for the first four rounds and put down your cards. For odd rounds, player one should shuffle the flip cards and put one face down. They should then spin the card around and wait until it stops. Player two will do this for even rounds.
  3. Turn the flip card over. The player who shuffles the cards should follow the action that is closest to them. If it's a negative action, your stats will be lowered.
  4. Play four sets of four rounds- four games in total. Make sure that you shuffle the cards in between games. Choose a new stat for each game.
  5. Whoever wins nine rounds or more wins the game.
